Saturday Workshops (4/11)
VALS: We will get immersed in the “swing” of the Vals through flowing combinations, learning and refining basic principles like “pivots”, “circular walks”, and more tools to connect better with your partner, the music, and just share the flow.
MILONGA: We will be exploring the 2 dynamics and styles of the milonga: Lisa & Traspié. We will also discover how to combine them, manage “speed”, and enjoy the ride together.

Sacadas& Boleos:
We will learn and work on Ins & Outs of Sacadas, Boleo Techniques, and how to apply them in your dance according to the Music.

Born in Buenos Aires, Silvana Brizuela Weigel studied Ballet and performed at the world-famous Teatro Colón, Argentina’s Ballet and Opera House. She later got admitted and studied Contemporary Dance at Teatro Municipal General San Martín. While keeping the vast training at the Teatro San Martín, Silvana started learning Tango from world-renowned masters such as Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Pupi Castello, Natalia Games, Gabriel Angio, Rodolfo Dinzel, Gabriel Missé, Leandro Oliver and Leila Rezk, and Lorena Ermocida. Sh e performed and taught for more than 27 years at various noteworthy venues and Festivals in Buenos Aires and USA.
Silvana teaches, performs, and organizes events in New York, New Jersey, and with the Tango Society of Boston at Dance Union in Somerville.
Silvana is properly trained and available to teach the original Argentinian style of Tango and folk dances like Zamba and Chacarera in both private and group settings. Prácticas are a congenial place to practice, enjoy, and soak up Argentine Tango. No partners needed for classes or prácticas.
Your dancing life will never look back! In this Argentine tango series, I’ll provide a handful of basic steps, transitions, variations and some cultural context. Come as you are, dance the role of your choice. Sign up solo, with a partner or a group!
Teaching Artist Bio: Effie Zimet has been dancing most of her life. Following a classical ballet career, she trained in contact improv, yoga, and Latin and folk dances. Her tango journey began in Buenos Aires a decade ago, and she visits frequently to keep up.

Who: David Lansky and Scott Phillips have decades of tango dancing between them & have been teaching tango for several years
What : Intro class will cover the basics and repeat about every two months. No experience necessary. Intermediate class will offer vocabulary, technique, and exercises to develop musicality, connection, and creativity for those with some basic tango skills.
We will be downstairs in the Oak Room for the classes. Then will move upstairs to the ballroom from 8:30-9:30pm for our guided practica.
Instructor Phil Ciotti provides FREE Argentine Tango Lessons on Thursday nights at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center. Beginners at 6PM and intermediates starting at 7PM, followed by a bit of practice time.
This event is every Thursday, except the 4th Thursday of the month.
Casual smooth leather-soled shoes are recommended.
First Thursday of the month is a practica only, other weeks there is a class.

Festive snacks and bottled water will be available. Guests may bring their own snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. Clean, smooth-soled shoes are required on the dance floor (no street shoes).
